"Sci-fi films are the reason I become a filmmaker, so I'm excited to add to the genre with a fresh take by fusing Bangla with cyberpunk aesthetics and themes. Finally we get to see what this side of the world may be like in the future. How will a labor-based economy reckon with robots? But the future is not dark and gloomy. There is innovation, empathy and love. And that is the ultimate theme of the film. While building on AI stories, Project Ommi explores new questions and conflicts that we as humanity must face."
Amit Ashraf is a graduate of NYU's Tisch Film School. He grew up in the US and Bangladesh. His first feature film Udhao won several international awards and released to critical acclaim. Afterwards he directed several projects including Kali about a super-heroine and the comedy adventure film Kathal.
